Assistive technology isn't about simply choosing a piece of equipment from a catalogue.

The right solution needs to consider you, your goals, your environment, your abilities and the way you live your life.

Our occupational therapists assess how you're currently managing and identify practical solutions that can help you do more safely and independently.

Depending on your needs, this may involve equipment trials, measurements, clinical assessment, recommendations, scripting and working with suppliers and other members of your support team.

How we can help

We provide occupational therapy assessment and recommendations for a wide range of assistive technology, including:

• Wheelchairs & mobility equipment: We can help with manual and powered wheelchair assessment, mobility equipment selection and complex mobility needs.

• Seating & positioning: We assess seating, posture, positioning and comfort to help you maintain a safe and functional sitting position.

• Bathroom equipment: We can recommend equipment to improve safety and independence with showering, toileting and bathroom routines.

• Pressure care: We can assess your pressure care needs and recommend appropriate cushions, mattresses and positioning solutions.

• Beds & bedroom equipment: We can help identify equipment that makes getting in and out of bed, positioning and bedroom routines safer and easier.

• Mobility & transfer equipment: From transfer aids to mobility solutions, we'll consider what can help you move safely around your home and community.

• Powered assistive technology: Where appropriate, we can assess powered mobility and other complex assistive technology solutions to support greater independence.

• Complex assistive technology: For more complex needs, we can coordinate trials, liaise with suppliers and work with your broader support team to develop an appropriate solution.

2. We talk through your needs

We'll discuss your current situation, your goals, your environment and the challenges you're experiencing.

3. Your OT completes an assessment

We'll assess your functional needs and consider the equipment and supports that may be appropriate for you.

4. We find the right solution

Where required, we can arrange equipment trials and work with suppliers and other professionals to identify a solution that meets your needs.

5. We provide recommendations

We'll provide appropriate clinical recommendations and supporting documentation, including scripting where required.

6. We help you move forward

We'll work with you and your support team to help progress the recommended solution and make sure it supports your goals.
