Home ModificationProcess

Home modifications can make a significant difference to your safety, independence and ability to live comfortably in your own home. At Ganly Allied Health, our experienced Occupational Therapists guide you through each stage of the process, from your initial assessment through to completion.

1. Home Assessment

Your OT will visit your home to understand your goals, discuss the difficulties you experience and assess how you move through and use your environment. This may include your bathroom, entry, bedroom, kitchen or other areas of your home.

2. Assessment & Scope of Works

Your OT will complete a detailed assessment and take the necessary measurements. We’ll then prepare a Scope of Works outlining the recommended modifications. For more complex projects, we may attend with a builder to determine what can be achieved within your existing home.

3. Review & Builder Quotes

We’ll provide the Scope of Works for you to review and sign, giving you the opportunity to ask questions and make sure you understand the proposed works. Once signed, the scope is provided to experienced and appropriately registered local builders for quoting.

4. NDIS Application

While builder quotes are being prepared, your OT will complete the Home Modifications Application and supporting documentation. Once finalised, we’ll provide the documents to you for review and signature before submitting the application to the NDIS.

5. NDIS Approval & Construction

Once approval is received, the approved documentation is provided to the builder nominated by the NDIS. The builder will then contact you to arrange contracts, product selections and construction dates.

If you wish to upgrade finishes or fittings, you can discuss this with your builder. Any additional cost will generally be your responsibility. We recommend discussing proposed changes with your OT first to ensure they remain suitable for your needs.

6. Final Review

Once construction is complete, your OT will return to your home to review the finished works and ensure the modifications have been completed in accordance with the approved Scope of Works and are working effectively for you.

We’re here to support you every step of the way.
